MONMOUTH, Ore. – The Western Oregon volleyball team heads back on the road for their third week of conference play. The Wolves take on the Saint Martin's Saints Thursday, Oct. 3, in Lacey, Wash., before a meeting with the Seattle Pacific Falcons Oct. 5 in Seattle.
The Wolves enter the week 2-9 overall with an 0-4 conference mark and in search of their first Great Northwest Athletic Conference win of the year. WOU is coming off 3-0 losses last week to No. 2 Western Washington and Simon Fraser in their first regular season matches at NPE Gym. Western Oregon has had eight straight matches decided in three sets including 3-0 wins over both Holy Names and Notre Dame de Namur to close out the DII West Region Showcase.
The Wolves recorded a season-high five solo blocks as a team on Thursday against the Vikings and nine blocks total in the match. They have now played three consecutive matches with at least nine blocks.
Sophomore
Delaney Smith had a combined 11 kills, 4 blocks and 1 dig over the two matches to lead the Wolves in kills on both Thursday and Saturday.

Aubrey Stanton ranks 9
th in the conference with 7.14 assists per set, totaling 250 on the season. She is also 20
th in the GNAC with 10 service aces this year.
Saint Martin's enters the week 0-13 overall and 0-4 in conference play. The Saints have won two sets in a match just twice this season, not having accomplished it since Sept. 13 against the Academy of Art. They are last in the GNAC with a .101 hitting percentage, .256 opponent hitting percentage and 1.02 service aces per set. SMU's attack is led by Mackenzie Carter who averages 3.12 kills per set.
Western is 24-4 against the Saints dating back to 2000. SMU was able to snap WOU's 17-game winning streak in the series in last season's final game, winning 3-2 on Oct. 11 in Monmouth. It was Saint Martin's first win against the Wolves since 2004. Western Oregon's last win came on Sept. 15 last season, 3-1, in Lacey.
Seattle Pacific holds a 4-8 overall record and 1-3 conference mark, sitting in a tie for eighth in the GNAC. The Falcons picked up their first conference win in their most recent match, beating Northwest Nazarene 3-1 on the road. The win followed being swept by Alaska Anchorage, Alaska and Central Washington to open conference play. SPU's Maddie Batiste is 3
rd in the GNAC with 3.51 kills per set while senior Gabby Oddo is amongst the conference leaders in kills (3.22 per set), service aces (22) and points (3.81 per set).
The Wolves are 9-25 against the Falcons dating back to 2000. SPU has won four straight in the series with WOU's last win coming Oct. 22, 2016, in a 3-1 win at NPE Gym. Western Oregon's last win in Seattle was Nov. 3, 2012, in straight sets.
Thursday's match against Saint Martin's is set to start at 7 p.m. PDT with a 2 p.m. start Saturday against Seattle Pacific. Both matches will have live stats and video available on GNAC.tv.
