Tomasini and Beristain Named to D2CCA All-West Region Second Team

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Alyssa Tomasini and Jacky Beristain added another impressive accolade to their seasons on Wednesday by being named to the D2CCA All-West Region Team.

The D2CCA awards are nominated and selected by the region's sports information directors.

Tomasini adds the D2CCA honor after being selected to the All-GNAC first team and GNAC Academic Team. She finished the regular season strong tallying a two goal effort and game-winning goal against Central Washington, Tomasini finished the regular season leading the GNAC in goals (9), points (25) and game-winning goals (4), while dishing out the second-most assists (7). She's earned a pair of GNAC Player of the Week honors and three times this season she scored multiple goals. Tomasini scored a goal in six games this season. Her top point matches were a pair of five-point performances against Western Colorado and Simon Fraser, while adding a four-point effort against Central Washington. Tomasini ranked 63rd nationally in assists per game (0.39), 37th nationally in game-winning goals, 81st nationally in points per game (1.39), 47th nationally in total assists, 87th nationally in total goals and 59th nationally in total points. Her 25 points was the most by a WOU player since Mariel Chandler in 2001. Tomasini also had the most goals for the program since 2008 and most assists since 2002.

Beristain adds the D2CCA award after being selected to the All-GNAC first team and GNAC Academic Team. She has helped anchor a defense that put together seven combined shutouts this year. In addition to starting every game this season, she was one of just two players on the team to play all 1,792 minutes in the field. Beristain also chipped in a pair of goals against Academy of Art and Concordia, with her goal against the Cavaliers being a game-winning goal and her goal against Academy of Art ended up being the goal to help WOU tie on the road.

WOU won 10 games this season, the most since the program won 11 in 2002. Offensively, the Wolves posted one of their best seasons during their NCAA era, finishing inside of the program's top four single seasons in every major offensive category. That included totaling 26 assists, the third-most during the Wolves' time in the NCAA.
