ST. GEORGE, Utah—Another attempt at getting in softball games in Southern Utah has been thwarted as overnight snow has forced the cancellation of the Western Oregon and Dixie State series.
Western Oregon was originally schedule dot play five games at the Dixie State Classic from Feb. 15-17, but continued rain and unplayable field conditions brought several delays and eventual stoppage of the tournament featuring teams from Texas, New York and Oregon.
After the tournament was cancelled, WOU and the host Trailblazers added a doubleheader for Monday in Henderson, Nev., but were denied again as rain turned to snow in the Virgin River Gorge causing road closures along the I-15 corridor.
The Wolves, 3-0 on the season, will now turn their attention to the rue Sunshine State with seven games set from March 1-4 at the PFX Tournament held in Clermont, Florida.
