Men's Basketball going dancing again

INDIANAPOLIS – Western Oregon's men's basketball team learned Sunday that their season will continue as they earned an at-large berth in the 2019 NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championships.

Teetering on the edge of advancement, the Wolves' questions were answered Sunday night when they were awarded the No. 8 seed in the West Region Tournament as a part of the 64-team championship bracket. Western Oregon will face the host and No. 1 seed Point Loma Nazarene University on Friday, March 15, at 7:30 p.m. at Golden Gymnasium in San Diego in the first round of action.

This is the fourth appearance in the NCAA tournament for the Wolves in the last five years. In that time, they have gone 5-2 in regional play, most recently advancing to the West Regional Championship last season to face eventual champion Cal Baptist.

The matchup with Point Loma is the second consecutive season the teams have met in the first round of the regional tournament. Western Oregon defeated the Sea Lions last season, 73-66 in the opening round in Monmouth.

Also representing the Great Northwest Athletic Conference in the eight-team regional are No. 2 Seattle Pacific and No. 3 Saint Martin's.
