LOUISVILLE, Ky. –Rewarded for their stellar start to the season, the Western Oregon softball team cracked the top 25 in the NFCA DII Coaches' Poll for the first time this season on Wednesday.

Western Oregon (12-4, 3-1 GNAC) picked up 35 points to tie Angelo State (Texas) for No. 24 in the latest poll.

Ranked No. 4 in NCAA DII, Chico State (18-5) remains the top team from the West Region. Western Oregon defeated Chico State, 7-2, at the Las Vegas Desert Stinger on Feb. 3.

In all, the West Region landed four teams in the top 25 with Concordia Irvine (No. 7) and UC San Diego (No. 16) also receiving national recognition.

Central Washington (15-4, 8-0 GNAC), undefeated in GNAC play so far this season, received one point in the poll.

Western Oregon will face Central Washington on the road this Saturday. Opening pitch is set for 1 p.m. in Ellensburg, Washington.
