Soccer Tallies 3-1 Exhibition Win at Linfield

MCMINNVILLE, Ore. – Backed by a strong second half, the Western Oregon University soccer team picked up the 3-1 exhibition win over Linfield on the road Friday.

With the game scoreless at the half, the Wolves were able to break it open early in the second half. Hannah Rispler got the scoring started with a goal in the 51st minute hitting a long range shot that sailed in the goal off an assist by Alyssa Tomasini.

Tomasini then scored her own goal in the 60th minute when she received a pass from Piper Matson inside the box and finished to the back post for a 2-0 lead.

A corner kick helped setup the final goal for the Wolves in the 70th minute. Gabby Pulliam served the corner kick into the box and after Chloe Smith's shot hit off the goalkeeper's hands, Liz Parker was there to finish the play for the goal and a 3-0 lead.

Linfield tallied their only goal of the game in the 82nd minute.

For the game, WOU recorded 23 total shots, 13 in the first half and 10 in the second half.

Tomasini led the way with six shots and Rispler added five.

WOU will now prepare to face Humboldt State on Sunday, Apr. 11 in a neutral site contest that will be played in Medford.
