MONMOUTH, Ore. – A four-game homestand continues for the Western Oregon University men's basketball team this week when they face Simon Fraser on Tuesday starting at 4:15 p.m. in Great Northwest Athletic Conference action inside New PE Gym.
WOU (3-12, 2-5 GNAC) returned home for the first time in over a month when they played Saint Martin's this past Saturday with the Saints taking the 89-67 victory. Cameron Cranston led the Wolves with 20 points, while Yosani Clay added 16 points and John Morrill-Keeler with 14 points.
WOU enters the week averaging 70.1 points, making 387-908 (42.6) from the field, 139-394 (35.3) from three and 138-187 (73.8) at the foul line. The Wolves also average 31.3 rebounds, 13.4 assists, 6.5 steals and 3.1 blocks per game. Opponents average 79.3 points, making 457-953 (48) from the field, 114-305 (37.4) from three and 162-222 (73) from the foul line. Opponents also average 39.1 rebounds, 14.9 assists, 6.6 steals and 1.8 blocks per game.
Cranston averages 18.9 points, making 102 field goals, 43 three-pointers, 36 free throws, 5.6 rebounds, 33 assists, 24 steals and 18 blocks while playing 36.4 minutes per game. He leads the team in points, field goals, three-pointers, free throws, rebounds, steals and blocks. Morrill-Keeler and Clay average 10.1 points per game. Morrill-Keeler adds 5.4 rebounds and is shooting over 55 percent from the field. Clay adds 3.6 rebounds, 29 assists and 16 steals. Tyreek Price adds 7.6 points and 27 three-pointers, Elihu Cobb is at 6.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, shooting almost 68 percent and has sent back 12 blocks. Daisone Hughes tallies 6.6 points per game and has 25 assists.
WOU has won the past six meetings against Simon Fraser including both meetings in the 2019-20 season. The Wolves won by 12 in Monmouth and then won by 14 in the earlier meeting in Canada. The last win in the series for SFU was during the 2016-17 season claiming the five-point win in Burnaby.
Simon Fraser is 8-6 overall on the season and 3-3 in GNAC play. They've gone 3-5 away from home this season and 2-5 in true road contests. SFU has lost the past two games that were both against Central Washington.
On the season, Simon Fraser averages 75 points, making 400-872 (45.9) from the field, 90-300 (30) from three and 160-248 (64.5) from the foul line. SFU also averages 36.6 rebounds, 15.5 assists, 8.7 steals and 3.5 blocks per game. Opponents average 73.1 points, making 384-843 (45.6) from the field, 112-293 (38.2) from three and 144-206 (69.9) at the foul line. Opponents also average 33.4 rebounds, 14.4 assists, 7.1 steals and 3.6 blocks.
Julian Roche leads Simon Fraser averaging 14.5 points, 9.1 rebounds, 24 assists, 13 steals and 14 blocks. Jasdeep Singh adds 13.6 points, but has only played in seven games this season. Wilfried Balata tallies 12.8 points and 6.4 rebounds. Jordan Lyons adds 10.8 points and 4.1 rebounds. David Penney is at 9.6 points per game and 63 assists.
