Men’s Basketball Opens Road Trip At Seattle Pacific On Tuesday

SEATTLE, Wash. – Coming off of a three-game homestand that included a pair of overtime games, the Western Oregon University men's basketball team will now play three straight on the road starting with Seattle Pacific this Tuesday night at 5 p.m.

The Wolves (3-14, 2-7 GNAC) played two edge of your seat games versus Simon Fraser and Montana State Billings. In the game against SFU, the game went to overtime before Simon Fraser held on for the 75-73 win. Against the Yellowjackets, WOU put together a big push late in the second half to send the game to overtime before Montana State Billings claimed the 87-79 win.

WOU was scheduled to play Seattle Pacific in between those two games on Thursday, but that game was postponed.

The Wolves average 70.8 points, making 441-1,046 (42.2) from the field, 156-447 (34.9) from three and 165-220 (75) from the foul line. WOU also averages 31.7 rebounds, 13.8 assists, 6.7 steals and 3.1 blocks. Opponents average 79.5 points, making 518-1,077 (48.1) from the field, 134-357 (37.5) from three and 182-249 (73.1) at the foul line. Opponents also average 39.2 rebounds, 15.4 assists, 6.4 steals and 2.1 blocks.

Cameron Cranston leads the Wolves in points (19.1), field goals (116), three-pointers (47), free throws (45), steals (28) and blocks (20), while averaging 37.2 minutes per game. John Morrill-Keeler leads the team in rebounds (5.9), while adding 10.5 points and is making over 54 percent (72-133) from the field. Yosani Clay is third on the team in scoring at 10.2 points, while adding 3.9 rebounds, 34 assists, while making 29 three-pointers. Tyreek Price is tied with Clay in three-pointers with 29, along with 7.2 points and 21 assists. Daisone Hughes and Elihu Cobb are tied at 6.9 points per game. Qiant Myers leads the team in assists with 63. Cranston is second with 37.

Seattle Pacific is 12-8 overall and 5-4 in GNAC play, last playing on Jan. 29 at home rolling to a 91-59 win over Alaska Anchorage. The Falcons are 7-1 at home this season.

The Falcons average 75.2 points, making 531-1,192 (44.5) from the field, 163-460 (35.4) from three and 278-347 (80.1) at the foul line. SPU also averages 34.3 rebounds, 11.6 assists, 6.6 steals and 2.6 blocks. Opponents average 70 points, making 520-1,183 (44) from the field, 135-423 (31.9) from three and 225-312 (72.1) at the foul line. Opponents also average 34.8 rebounds, 11 assists, six steals and 2.9 blocks per game.

Divant'e Moffitt leads the way averaging 18.4 points, along with 3.8 rebounds, 77 assists and 19 steals. Shaw Anderson is at 13.9 points, grabbing 4.4 rebounds and has made 37 three-pointers. Harry Cavell adds 12.8 points, 5.9 rebounds, 38 assists and 34 steals.

Seattle Pacific holds a 27-18 series record since 2001 and have won the past four meetings. The teams played two instant classics during the 2019-20 season that went right down to the wire. In the first meeting in Monmouth, the teams went to overtime before SPU took the 98-88 win. Then in the rematch in Seattle, the game almost went overtime again before the Falcons grabbed the 83-82 victory. The last win in the series for WOU was on Jan. 19, 2019 when the Wolves picked up the 73-71 win in Monmouth.
