SAN FRANCISCO, Calif./EUGENE, Ore. – It was certainly a busy past few days for the Western Oregon University men's and women's track and field teams competing in several meets in two different states. The Wolves finished Saturday with student-athletes at the Stanford Invitational in California and then were just down the road in Eugene at the Hayward Premiere and the NW Distance Jamboree.
At Hayward Premiere, Maliyah Thompson, Maya Hopwood and Taryn Wilson all entered in the 100. Thompson posted another strong time of 12.28 to come in 16th. Hopwood was just a few places back in 20th with a time of 12.41. Wilson crossed at 12.73 to come in 28th.
Dominique Loggins was close to his 100 time from the GNAC Outdoor Championships last year when he crossed with a time of 10.85 to come in 15th. Amari Hendrix came in 32nd with a time of 11.19 and James Mazzeo was right behind in 33rd with a time of 11.28.
Ana Popchock and Thompson both competed in the 100 hurdles with Popchock coming in 16th with a time of 15.30 and Thompson in 18th with a time of 15.42.
Justin Conklin entered the 110 hurdles for the Wolves and came in 14th with a time of 15.30.
Madeline Lambing led the Wolves in the 400 hurdles posting a time of 1:07.20 to come in 12th. Rilee Carstensen was just a few spots back in 14th with a time of 1:11.07.
Aaron Hanible came in with a time of 56.55 in the 400 hurdles to place 13th.
Kalulusno Ngaida competed in the high jump hitting a height of 5-1 to come in 14th.
Devin Hasher also placed 14th in the high jump reaching a height of 6-2.75.
Liliana Lyness-Morales reached a distance of 37-3.75 in the shot put to come in 17th.
Popchock hit a mark of 36-7 in the triple jump to place 10th.
At the Stanford Invitational, Keeton Sanchez and Emmett Klus led the Wolves in the 800. In section 6, Sanchez came in fifth with a time of 1:55.62 and Klus was right behind in sixth with a time of 1:56.13.
Samuel Cole hit a distance of 162-5 in the hammer to come in 10th.
Cole and Owen Collins both competed in the shot put with Collins coming in 12th with a new season-best mark of 45-7.25. Cole came in 15th with a distance of 44-5.50.
Halle Hargett reached a distance of 116-8 in the discus for a new-season best to come in sixth.
Emillia Carpenter and Moana Gianotti competed in the hammer with Carpenter coming in ninth with a mark of 136 for a new PR and season-best and Gianotti coming in 11th.
Carpenter also entered in the javelin hitting a new season-best in the event with a distance of 116-3 to come in sixth.
Cedar Davis-Frankfort competed at the NW Distance Jamboree in Eugene and ran the 10,000 coming in sixth.
WOU now returns home to host the John Knight Twilight on Friday and Saturday in Monmouth at McArthur Field.
