INDIANAPOLIS – With the final rankings being released this week prior to the selection show on Sunday, the Western Oregon University baseball team stayed seventh in the latest NCAA West Regional Rankings that were released on Wednesday.

WOU has been seventh in the rankings in all three polls this year. Point Loma remains the top seed in the region at 39-7. There was no change in the top three with Azusa Pacific second (32-14) and Cal State Monterey Bay third (36-13). Northwest Nazarene was idle last week, but moved up to fourth with their 25-19 record. Cal Poly Pomona climbed one spot as well to fifth with their 32-17 record. Chico State had the biggest drop in the rankings falling from fourth to sixth with a record of 32-14. Western Oregon is seventh with a 26-16 record, followed by Fresno Pacific in eighth at 27-19.

The top six teams in the region will advance to the NCAA West Regional that will be hosted by the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds. With the CCAA competing this year, that expanded the field from last year's three teams to six, as the PacWest and GNAC also comprise the region. The GNAC still has an auto bid for the team that wins the GNAC Championships, so if somehow none of the GNAC teams end up ranked in the top six in the final rankings, the team that wins GNAC will receive an auto bid into the top six.

With the weekly rankings now complete, the NCAA selection show will take place on ncaa.com for baseball this Sunday, May 15 starting at 7 p.m. (Pacific).

WOU hosts the GNAC Baseball Championships this Thursday and Friday, as the Wolves will be joined by top-seed Northwest Nazarene and three-seed Montana State Billings.
