MONMOUTH, Oregon --- The Western Oregon volleyball team dropped its home opener to GNAC foe Central Washington 3-0 (25-16, 26-24, 27-25) Thursday night at New PE Building.
After dropping the first set, the Wolves (5-6, 1-2) held a 23-22 advantage after a kill from
Ella Nordquist and
Madison Hornback before Central Washington score four of the next five points to take the set 26-24 and a 2-0 lead.
The third set was highly contest near the end after WOU rallied from a 20-13 deficit to come back and take a 24-23 lead after a kill by
Chloe Asciutto. However, the Wildcats again took over at the end and finished on a 4-1 run to close out the set and the match.
Bailee Hartsook led Western Oregon with 11 kills while Hornback added 10.
Laney O'Neil had a team-high 23 assists while
Ally Henry had seven digs.
The Wolves return to action 7 p.m. Saturday against Northwest Nazarene.
