SPOKANE, Washington — The Western Oregon track team opened the indoor season Saturday at Spokane Invitational held at The Podium, resulting in several strong performances.

Justin Conklin won the men's high jump by clearing a height of 1.95 meters (6 feet, 4 ¾ inches). He went on to clear 2.00m (6-6.75), tying him for eighth place in WOU history.

Marley Harrison had a strong start to his season, placing fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 13.80 (45-3.5).

Amity Deters finished eighth in the high jump, clearing 1.61m (5-3.5) on her second attempt — just 1.5 inches off her personal best. Macy Clemens placed 25th in the event.

Ujunwa Nwokoma placed eighth in the long jump, finishing at 5.49 meters (18-0). Clemens and Deters also competed in the long jump, placing 27th and 34th.

Madeline Lambing had a strong performance, winning her heat in the 400 with a time of 1:01.67 — just .09 seconds off her personal best. Lambing finished 19th overall.

Maliyah Thompson had a busy opener - placing 15th in the 60-meter hurdles, followed by a solid performance in the 60 - placing16th in 7.72. Thompson ended her day placing 25th in the 200.

Justin Parnell's throw of 13.54m (44-5.25) earned him a sixth-place finish in the shot put. Parnell also set a personal best in the weight throw, achieving 15.15 meters (49-11.5) to finish 10th. Jacob Behrman placed 22nd and 19th in the shot put and weight throw, respectively, as well.

Dustyn McKenney and Easton Pomrankey finished 22nd and 23rd in the men's 3,000, running 8:48.43 and 8:48.93 — McKenney with a personal best in the event.
