MONMOUTH, Ore. --- The Western Oregon women's basketball team got a 22-point first half from
Cali McClave to keep the Wolves in it and pulled away over the final two quarters to defeat Northwest Nazarene 77-63 Thursday night at New PE Building.
WOU (12-13 overall, 6-11 GNAC) trailed by as much as nine points in the first half before cutting the deficit to one at 34-33 at the break behind the 22-point first-half effort from McClave.Â
The rest of the Wolves picked up the slack in the second half as WOU outscored the Nighthawks (11-14, 7-10) 44-29 over the final 20 minutes.
McClave tied a career high with 29 points to go along with eight rebounds and three assists.
Amber Winkler just missed a double-double with 14 points, nine rebounds and two blocks, Kylynn Dawkins had 13 points and seven rebounds while
Princy Paaluhi-Caulk had 11 points, five assists and two blocks.
Ana McClave had a team-high seven assists to go along with eight rebounds and two steals.
The Wolves return to action 2 p.m. Saturday for their season finale against Central Washington.
