PORTLAND, Ore. --- The Western Oregon softball team had three players selected to the All-GNAC Second Team while two more were named honorable mention when the conference released the awards Tuesday.

Pitcher Maddie Mayer and outfielders Katelyn McGough and Maddie Doig earned All-GNAC Second Team while pitchers Chelsea Smith and catcher Natalie Willoughby earned All-GNAC Honorable Mention.

Mayer has shined her senior season, going 13-10 thus far (fifth in the GNAC) with a 2.24 ERA (fourth), 107 strikeouts, an opponent batting average of .229 and 16 complete games - including four shutouts. Her 159.1 innings pitched is second in the GNAC.

Doig leads the team in hitting at .330 to go along with a homer, 14 doubles (leads the team), 22 RBI (tops on the team) and 13 runs.

McGough is hitting .281 with three homers, two triples, 12 doubles, 17 RBI and a team-high 24 runs.

Smith has picked up eight wins this season and owns a 3.28 ERA with 148 strikeouts in 122.2 innings. Opposing batters are hitting .223 this season and she has 12 complete games.

Willoughby is second on the team in hitting at .320 with three homers, four doubles 15 RBI and 11 runs.

WOU is the No. 4 seed in the GNAC Championships and takes on No. 1 Northwest Nazarene 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Burnaby, British Columbia (hosted by Simon Fraser).
