NAMPA, Idaho --- The Western Oregon volleyball team after winning the first two sets held on for a five-set victory (25-22, 25-21, 16-25, 23-25, 15-11) over Northwest Nazarene on Saturday at Johnson Sports Center.
The Wolves (8-5 overall, 2-3 GNAC) jumped out to a 2-0 lead on the Nighthawks (7-7, 3-3) after rallying from a 17-13 deficit in the first game - pulling away with a 5-0 run late - before again trailing 17-13 in the second set before going on a 8-1 run to take a 21-18 lead an never looked back as
Madison Hornback capped the second with a kill.
After dropping the next two games to force a fifth set, the Wolves never trailed in the fifth - taking an 11-5 lead before holding on for the 15-11 win to take the match.
Bella MacLellanĀ was huge at the net with 11 total blocks - 10 being assisted blocks - to go along with four kills. Hornback led the team with 14 kills to go along with 14 digs while
Bailee Hartsook had 13 kills.
Sophie Matlock led the team with 16 digs while
Samantha Darby had a team-best 24 assists to go along with 10 digs.
The Wolves return to action 7 p.m. Thursday when they host Alaska Fairbanks.
