MONMOUTH, Ore --- The Western Oregon volleyball team fell at home to Simon Fraser 3-1 (29-27, 21-25, 25-15, 25-23) Thursday in the New PE Building.
The Wolves (9-4 overall, 2-3 GNAC) dropped set one to the Red Leafs (7-4, 3-1) after going point-for-point late in the set, battling all the way to 27-26 before SFU closed out the set 29-27. The Wolves took set two thanks to key late kills from
Lauryn Johnson before losing sets three and four to the Red Leafs.
Maela Honma ended with a team-high 17 kills and four aces while Bailee Hartook had 14 kills and three blocks.
Madison Hornback finished with 12 kills and 12 digs.
Samantha Darby also had 12 digs and 22 assists while Johnson ended with 10 kills.
Kealani Rosa led Wolves with 26 assists and
Finley Buman had a team-best four blocks.
The Wolves play at home again 1 p.m. Saturday as they take on their northern counterpart Western Washington in New PE.
