MONMOUTH, Ore. --- The Western Oregon volleyball team dropped its home match to Western Washington 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 25-20) Saturday in the New PE Building.
The Wolves (9-5 overall, 2-4 GNAC) started out set one close with the Vikings (5-6, 4-1) before a 10-3 run would put WWU ahead for good. In set two the Wolves never trailed by more than three - even having the lead late in the set - before a Vikings 6-1 run would allow them to take set two, 25-22. Western Oregon started set three out hot, leading 16-13 before WWU would get a late burst to take set three and the match.
Maela Honma finished with 11 kills while
Lauryn Johnson had seven. Johnson,
Finley Buman,
Chloe Asciutto and
Madison Hornback all had three blocks with Hornback adding a WOU-high 12 digs.
Kealani Rosa had a team-high 15 assists alongside eight digs for the Wolves.
WOU takes the court again 7 p.m. Tuesday against Linfield in the New PE Building.
