  • This week signifies the start of GNAC play.
  • The Wolves are exactly 27-25 all-time against both Alaska and Alaska Anchorage.
  • Thursday's matchup will feature the top three scorers in the conference in Chris Lee of Alaska (19.4 ppg), Isaiah Saams-Hoy of Alaska (18.4) and Jason Gallant of WOU (18.0). The Nanooks are the top scoring team in the GNAC (87.9) as well as the most prolific 3-point team (10.9 3-pointers per game).
  • Alaska also features the conference's top rebounder in Jalaia O'Keith (9.6 rpg).
  • Alaska Anchorage's Tyler Burraston leads the GNAC in 3-pointers per game (3.0) - shooting 39.3 percent from beyond the arc - while leading the team at 12.1 points per game (just ahaead of Sean Evans at 12.0).
LAST TIME OUT
  • The Wolves are coming off a 90-83 overtime win over Academy of Art on Nov. 23 in their home opener. WOU got a late bucket from Jason Gallant to tie the game and force overtime as the senior finished wit h23 points, four assists and four steals. Zach Moore had a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds.
  • Alaska is coming off 104-68 (Friday) and 96-79 (Saturday) wins over Northwest Indian College to move its win streak to four games.
  • Alaska Anchorage picked up its first win in seven tries against D-II competition Saturday with a 74-73 win over Newberry after Tyler Burraston hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer for the Seawolves.
WOU NOTES
Gallant's double-figure scoring streak hits 18 games
Jason Gallant with his 23 points against Academy of Art (including a game-tying jumper to force overtime) on Nov. 23 moved his double-figure scoring streak to 18 games - starting Feb. 1, 2024, with a 19-point effort in an overtime loss to Simon Fraser.

Gallant reaches 1,000-point mark in opener, at 99 career 3-pointers
Wrapping up last season tantalizingly close to the 1,000-point mark for his collegiate career at 994 - senior point guard Jason Gallant blew threw the 1,000-point barrier in the Wolves' season-opening contest against fifth-ranked Dallas Baptast as he scored 12 points. The Simi Valley, California, native who transferred from Colorado Christian to WOU prior to his junior season sits with 1,156 points (590 at Colorado Christian, 566 WOU) and is averging 12.3 points for his career (94 games).

The senior is closing in on 100 career 3-pointers in his career as well as his three 3-pointers against Academy of Art on Nov. 23 gives him 99 in his collegiate career (57 at CCU, 42 at WOU).

10th Anniversary of WOU's first GNAC title
This season marks the 10th anniversary of the Wolves' first GNAC title in the 2014-15 season as WOU went 15-3 in conference play and 23-7 overall. It was also the first of a run of four NCAA Tournament appearances in five years for the Wolves (including an Elite 8 appearance the next year in 2015-16).

Andy Avgi became WOU's first NCAA All-American in 2014-15 (the Wolves joined the NCAA for the 2000-01 season) - selected to the fourth team (Division II Belletin All-American Team) after averaging 18.5 points and 5.9 rebounds. Overall, he is  WOU's 11th All-American all-time (first and only since Mike Venderhoff in 1999-2000).

Gallant named to Preseason All-GNAC team (Oct. 22)
Western Oregon Senior Jason Gallant was named to the GNAC Men's Basketball Preseason All-Conference Team when the conference released the team on Oct. 22. Gallant, a senior guard from Simi Valley, California, led the Wolves and was sixth in the conference in scoring last year at 15.5 points per game while he was second in the GNAC in assists (4.4) and minutes per game (36.3) in his first season at WOU. He scored a season-high 31 points against Alaska Fairbanks on Feb. 22, 2023.
