RENO, Nev. --- It was quite the indoor opener for the Western Oregon men's and women's track and field squads as a pair of school records fell and another athletes hit the all-time top 10 at the Silver State Invitational and Multis on Thursday and Friday at the Reno Sparks Convention Center.

Gabe Burchfield set a new Wolves record in the heptathlon with 4,850 points - passing former teammate
JJ Walker's mark of 4,728 set in 2023. He set a PR in the 60 (7.37 seconds)Â while winning the high jump (1.98 meters - 6-6) and gaining the most points in the 60 hurdles by finishing second with a time of 8.59.
Two-time defending GNAC indoor long jump champion
Ujunwa Nwokoma got her season off on the right foot by breaking her own school record in the event by two inches with a mark of 19 feet, 3.5 inches - good enough for fourth in the event.
Macy Clemens on Thursday moved herself up a few spots in the WOU all-time top 10 in the pentathlon with 3,300 points - good for fifth on the list.
The Wolves return to action Dec. 14 at the Spokane Invitational.
