NEWBERG, Ore. --- The Western Oregon baseball team got a two-run homer from Randy Stultz and two hits apiece from AJ Cortese, Curran Mitzel and Kyle Parkman as the Wolves defeated George Fox 8-5 on Wednesday at Morse Athletic Field.

WOU (12-13 overall) built a 5-0 lead on the Bruins (11-8) heading into the bottom of the seventh after Stultz's two-run homer in the fourth, two-out RBIs from Dylan Mohler (single) and John Oleson (bases loaded walk) in the sixth and a Cortese RBI double in the seventh.

GFU scored three in the bottom of the seventh to cut the lead to two before a two-run, pinch-hit single by Trey Nelson in the eighth made it 7-3. The Bruins answered with two runs of their own in the eighth before a Curran Mitzel RBI single in the ninth made it 8-5.

Bryce Bond pitched a perfect ninth with a strikeout to pick up his second save of the season and close out the contest.

Chris Jones was awarded the win, tossing a perfect inning of relief in the fourth as each team used nine pitchers in this mid-week contest.
