The Western Oregon track and field teams found themselves at the Raider Invitational hosted by Southern Oregon and at the CWU Wildcat Invitational – and came away with plenty of positive results.
At the CWU Wildcat Invitational in Ellensburg, Washington,
Mark Warren wont the men's hammer while setting a personal best of 193 feet, 10 inches (59.10 meters) – moving him up to No. 4 on the WOU all-time list and putting him in the top 10 in GNAC history at No. 8. It's the best distance by a WOU athlete since Pro Escobedo set the record of 206-4 in 2003.
Kaylee Wright won the javelin at the same event with a distance of 128-10 (39.27) while
Emillia Carpenter took third (122-5).
Meanwhile, at the Raider Invitational in Ashland, Oregon, the Wolves picked up several event wins.
On Friday,
Kalulusno Ngaida won the women's triple jump at 38-10.25 (11.84) while
Marley Harrison won the men's triple jump at 46-06 (14.17). Ngaida also took second in the high jump at 5-3.75.
On Saturday,
Maliyah Thompson won the 100-meter hurdles (14.55) and took second in the 100 (12.32).
Gabe Burchfield won the 110 hurdles with a time of 15.26,
Brennen Murphy won the 400 at 49.05,
Madeline Lambing won the 400 hurdles (1:04.79),
Justin Conklin won the men's high jump at 6-4 and
Ujunwa Nwokoma won the long jump at 18-9.25 while
Amity Deters took second with a season-best 17-4.75
The women's 4x100 team of
Josie Lavato,
Bethanie Altamirano,
Jessy Hart and Lambing ran a season-best 48.75.
WOU heads to Corvallis next week as it competes at the OSU High Performance on Friday and Saturday.
