THE WOLVES HEADING INTO THE WEEK
WOU is coming off a pair of draws at home to open the season against teams that are receiving votes in the latest NCAA D-II women's national poll - a 1-1 draw against UCCS (then ranked sixth in the nation) thanks to a late goal by
Ciara Garcia and a 0-0 draw against MSU Denver behind solid defensive effort and two saves from keeper
Sophia Pierce.
THE OPPONENTS HEADING INTO THE WEEK
Stanislaus State opened the season in GNAC country last week, beating Saint Martin's 3-1 Thursday in Lacey, Washington, before heading to Canada and falling to Simon Fraser 2-0 on Saturday. In the win over SMU, the Warriors got a goal and an assist from Haylee Heffner and were 17 seconds away from the shutout before the Saints scored.
CSU Monterey Bay opened the season against a GNAC school as well, but at home as the Otters fell to Central Washington 1-0 on Thursday before bouncing back to beat Jessup on the road Saturday by the same 1-0 score.
