FAIRBANKS, Alaska --- The Western Oregon volleyball team dropped its road match to Alaska 3-2 (21-25, 25-22, 25-18, 23-25, 14-16) Thursday at the Patty Center.
The Wolves (8-3 overall, 1-2 GNAC) started the match losing set one to the Nanooks (10-3, 2-1) before bouncing back and claiming sets two and three. In set four both WOU and Alaska fought close before an Alaska late run would allow it to take the set and force and deciding fifth. In set five the Wolves would stay close - never trailing by more than three points and having match point at 14-13 - but the Nanooks were able to defend their home court, taking the next three points for set five and the match.
Madison Hornback finished with a match-high 22 kills and four aces while
Kealani Rosa finished with a career-best 34 assists.
Samantha Darby ended with 18 assists and three aces.
