SEATTLE --- The Western Oregon track and field teams opened the calendar year with a bang as the Wolves racked up a school record and 10 WOU all-time top-10 marks at the UW Preview on Friday at Dempsey Indoor.
Men
WOU sophomore
Brennen Murphy broke the school record in the 600 (a non-NCAA Championship event) at 1 minute, 19.15 seconds – beating the previous record of 1:19.95 by Badane Sultessa in 2016.

The Wolves picked up an NCAA provisional mark as well with
Isaiah Rodriguez recording the fourth-fastest time in WOU indoor history while finishing third in the 800 with a time of 1:50.44 - the fourth-fastest time in NCAA D-II this season.
In the 60, WOU had three top-10 marks - all by freshmen - in
Grant McDowell (6.91 - fourth at WOU),
Jack Burgett (6.94 - fifth at WOU) andÂ
Demari Thompson (7.02 - tied for 10th).

In the 3,000, sophomore
Logan Parker finished with a time of 8:27.86 – good for the sixth-fastest time in WOU history. Fellow freshman
Tate Herber in the 60 hurdles also tied for the eighth-fasted mark in WOU history at 8.49 in the finals – taking seventh.

WOU also had a pair of top-three finishes at the event with
Gabe Burchfield taking second in the high jump at 6-5.5 and
Mark Warren taking third in the shot put at 46-10.75.
Women
In the 3,000 –
Maslin Sigler finished with the No. 7 time at WOU all-time at 10:17.36 while
Kyla Potratz picked up the No. 8 spot with a time of 10:21.39.

Kylie Griffin moved into a tie for ninth on the WOU all-time list in the high jump with a mark of 5-5 (1.65 meters) as she took sixth place.
