MONMOUTH, Ore. --- When the game tightened and the clock thinned, Braydon Olson answered.
Olson scored 17 of his game-high 20 points over the final 10 minutes as the Western Oregon men's basketball team (4-5) surged past Linfield (2-7), 57-55, on Saturday night at the Wolves Athletic Center.
Olson buried six 3-pointers and took over down the stretch, giving WOU the offensive spark it needed after trailing by nine at halftime. His three with 1:14 remaining capped a decisive late run and pushed the Wolves' lead to seven.
Jadin Penigar finished with 13 points and four rebounds for WOU, while AB Gilchrist added eight points off the bench. The Wolves shot 52.2 percent in the second half and connected on eight 3-pointers after the break to flip the game.
WOU outscored Linfield 37-26 in the second half and turned defense into offense with 21 points off turnovers to secure the home win.
The Wolves hit the road next week to Salt Lake City where they will take on Westminster on Thursday and Eastern New Mexico on Friday.
