NAMPA, Idaho --- The Western Oregon women's basketball team led at the half, but couldn't hold on as the Wolves fell to Northwest Nazarene 76-60 on Saturday evning at Johnson Sports Center.
The Wolves (8-16 overall, 4-12 GNAC) trailed 16-13 heading into the second before
Bella Pedrojetti started the quarter with a pair of 3-pointers and another bucket to give WOU a 21-19 lead.
The Wolves increased their lead over the Nighthawks (16-10, 10-7) to a game-high seven points after an
Enid Vaifanua basket with 2:10 left made it 29-22. NNU went on a 6-0 run before a pair of
Salma Youngblood free throws with three second left in the half made it 31-28 Wolves at the break.
But the Nighthawks outscored WOU 27-14 in the third and 21-15 in the fourth to pull away for the win.
Pedrojetti finished with 18 points, eight rebounds and went 4-for-7 from 3-point range - which moves her to No. 5 on the single-season WOU all-time list with 55 (the record is 69 by Stacy Jepson in 1991-92). Youngblood had a double-double for WOU with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
WOU plays its final two games of the season next week at home, taking on Alaska Anchorage 5:15 p.m. Thursday and Alaska 2 p.m. Saturday.
