MONMOUTH, Ore. --- The Western Oregon football team signed what long-time Wolves head coach
Arne Ferguson is calling the "most complete class through all positions" during his tenure as WOU added 29 Wolves on Football National Signing Day on Wednesday.
"We're excited about the size, length and speed of this class," Ferguson said. "These guys are going to help us continue to compete at a high level in the Lone Star Conference and many will contribute early."
The Wolves, coming off a 6-5 campaign in 2024 that included going 6-3 in the always tough Lone Star Confernce to finish tied for third, signed:
- 6 Offensive Lineman
Ferguson: "The offensive linemen we are bringing in have great size and length and have the potential to grow and get stronger in strength and conditioning coach Cori Metzgar's program. We're looking forward to seeing their growth."
- 5 Linebackers
Ferguson: "The linebacker class is really complete with a great combination of strength and size. It's going to allow us to have multiple looks defensively in the future."
- 4 Wide Receivers
Ferguson: "This receiver group has some size - 6-foot-3, 6-foot-4, 6-foot-6. They are going to create mismatch problems in the Lone Star Conference - plus they all have good speed."
- 4 Defensive Lineman
Ferguson: "This class has the best combination of size and quickness that we've recruited a really long time."
- 4 Defensive Backs
Ferguson: "We really think this group of defensive back has the opportunity ot contribute early to our success."
- 2 Tight Ends
Ferguson: "We're really excited about tight end Emmitt Fee out of Wilsonville. He's 6-5, 240 pounds and right away we're going to expect a lot of out him both blocking and receiving. He's a great talent."
- 1 Quarterback
Ferguson: "Jaylen Viars is an extremely athletic quarterback that can make all the throws. He's 6-foot-4 and the most athletic quarterback we've had in a long time."
- 1 Running Back
- 1 Fullback
- 1 Kicker
In terms of where the new Wolves are coming from - 14 are from Oregon, 14 are from Washington and one from Arizona.
"I always want to thank our administration led by
Randi Lydum for their support in helping bring these student-athletes to Monmouth," Ferguson. "I also have to thank our recruiting coordinator
Josh Manning and our special teams coordinator Josh Overlin for bringing in quality students and athletes. This class has the potential to be the best to come out of WOU."
