NEW ORLEANS --- The Western Oregon men's and women's track and field teams earned a combined nine United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association West All-Region honors on Wednesday.
To earn all-region, an athlete must finish in the top five in the region or a relay team must finish in the top three.
For the men,
Isaiah Rodriguez (800 - 1:50.15, 2nd in the West Region),
Mark Warren (weight throw - 19.42 meters, 1st in the West),
Justin Parnell (weight throw - 17.12, 5th in the West),
Gabe Burchfield (heptathlon - 5,106, 3rd in the West) and the distance medley relay team of Rodriguez,
Brennen Murphy,
Grant Bohannon and
Keeton Sanchez (9:40.72 - 1st in the West) earned all-region honors.
On the women's side,
Ujunwa Nwokoma (long jump - 5.88 meters, 4th in the West;Â and triple jump - 11.96 meters, 4th in the West),
Amariyah Clay (triple jump - 11.85 meters, 5th in the West) and
Nerissa Thompson (60 meters - 7.50, 5th in the West) earned the honor.
Rodriguez, Warren and the DMR team get set to compete at the NCAA Indoor Championships on Friday in Indianapolis.
