Thompson breaks 100, 200 WOU records, 4x400 men smash school record in busy week for Wolves

There was action throughout the week from Southern California to Portland with numerous WOU top-10 marks reached – including a trio of records broken.
 
At the Beach Invitational on Friday, Nerissa Thompson had quite the day, setting a pair of school records. In the 100, she ran a Wolves all-time best of 11.82 seconds to win the event. In the 200 she ran it in 24.28 for the WOU record and to take second place.
 
The men's 4x400 relay team of Owen Frazier, Josiah de Prado, Jack Burgett and Brennen Murphy broke the school record by more than 3.5 seconds with a time of 3:11.10 – a Division II provisional mark and good for first place at the event.
 
Brennen Murphy moved up the WOU all-time 200 rankings from 10 to No. 7 with a time of 21.48 to take sixth Friday in Long Beach.
 
In the 800 at the Bryan Clay Invitational, Isaiah Rodriguez ran a season-best 1:50.51 – good for an NCAA D-II provisional mark. Rodriguez also jumped into the 1,500 WOU top 10 with a time of 3:48.78 – good for eighth in school history.
 
Also in the 1,500 at the Bryan Clay, Easton Pomrankey ran just a tick faster than Gonzalez in another heat at 3:48.65 to move to seventh on the all-time list. Logan Parker also made the WOU top 10 at the meet in the 5,000 with a time of 13:48.04.
 
On Wednesday during the Bryan Clay the Wolves had a pair of school top-10 performances in the women's 10,000 as Kyla Potratz ran it in 36 minutes, 52.42 seconds – good for fourth all-time in WOU history – while Maslin Sigler finished at 38:00.96 – eighth on the Wolves' all-time list.
 
On Saturday at the Larry Byerly Invitational hosted by Lewis & Clark, Ray Gerrard improved his No. 6 mark in the discus with a toss of 165 feet even (50.3 meters) to win the event. Mark Warren won the hammer with a distance of 189-02 (57.66 meters).
 
Isabel Zamora-Mercado moved up to No. 5 on the WOU all-time list in the pole vault with a height of 10-7.50 (3.24 meters).
 
Olivia Boyd won the high jump Saturday at the Larry Byerly with a season-best height of 5-04.25 (1.63 meters) while Kylie Griffin took second at 5-02.25 (1.58). Boyd also won the javelin with a distance of 130-10 (39.88) – personal record – while WOU's Grace Lam Tiang took second with a season-best 127-08 (38.91). Tiang won the shot put with a distance of 42-2.75 (just five inches short of reaching the WOU top 10).
