NEW ORLEANS --- Western Oregon's
Mark Warren,
Keeton Sanchez and
Ray Gerrard were named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association NCAA Division II West All-Region Team on Wednesday.
Top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region honors, in addition to each of the members of a top-3 ranked relay team.
Warren led the West Region in the hammer with a distance of 62.01 meters (203 feet, 5 inches). The distance is No. 3 on the WOU and GNAC all-time list - the longest mark in the conference since 2011). More importantly, the distance is No. 9 in D-II this season - qualifying him for nationals May 22-24 in Pueblo, Colorado.
Sanchez ranked fifth in the region in the 1,500 with his time of 3:46.51 at the Stanford Invitational on April 4. The time is No. 4 on WOU's all-time list.
Gerrard was No. 4 in the West Region in the discus thanks to his conference-winning mark of 51.78 meters at the GNAC Championships (169-10). The distance is No. 3 on the WOU all-time list - the best mark since 2004 for a Wolf.
