The Western Oregon track and field teams were in Corvallis and McMinnville this week for their final prep for the GNAC Championships – which starts Friday in Bellingham.
Oregon State High Performance (Friday & Saturday)
Olivia Flack in the 3,000 steeplechase took second with a PR of 11 minutes, 11.10 seconds – moving her from fifth to third on the WOU all-time list – the fastest time in the event by a WOU runner since 2008.
Tate Herber won the men's 110 hurdles with a PR of 14.69 – putting the freshman fifth on the WOU all-time list.
Jordan Vega took second (10.79) and
Grant McDowell finished third (10.86) in the men's 100.
Ray Gerrard took second in the discus with a distance of 49.43 meters (162-02).
In the men's hammer,
Mark Warren again broke the 61 meter and 200-foot barrier with a distance of 61.06 meters (200-04) – good for third place in the event.
Linfield Open (Saturday)
In McMinnville, the Wolves saw
Ray Gerrard win the discus (50.66 meters – 166-02),
Mark Warren win the hammer (60.64 meters – 198-11),
Alexa McGowan win the 400 (1:00.14 – a season best) and
Macy Clemens win the triple jump (11.57 meters – 37-11.5).
