BELLINGHAM, Wash. --- Western Oregon senior
Mark Warren set a new meet record and set a personal best while winning the hammer throw to highlight the first day of action at the GNAC Championships on Friday for the Wolves.
The Warrenton, Oregon, native won the hammer with a mark of 62.01 meters (203 feet, 5 inches) - improving his No. 3 mark in WOU history, moving up to No. 8 on the NCAA D-II performance list and breaking the GNAC Championships record.
Also finishing on the podium Friday for the Wolves was
Amity Deters as she took third in the high jump with a mark of 1.62 meters (5-3.75).
In the women's 3,000 steeple,
Olivia Flack moved up to No. 3 on the WOU all-time list with a time of 11:08.27 to finish fifth while
Easton Pomrankey also finished fifth on the men's side with a time of 9:16.12.

As for the team scores after day one, the WOU men sit in second place with 32 points as Western Washington has jumped out to a massive lead on everyone with 129.5 points (seven of 21 events scored). On the women's side WOU sits in third with 39 points - behind Western Washington (83) and Central Washington (56) with six of the 21 events scored.
