MONMOUTH, Ore. --- First-year Western Oregon men's basketball coach
Ryan Orton has added Central Michigan's
Chris Reeves as his assistant coach.
Reeves joins the Wolves after serving as CMU men's basketball's director of operations in 2024-25 after spending the previous year as the Chippewas' director of player development. Reeves does have ties to Oregon as he served as the student manager for the Oregon men's basketball program from 2015-18 while completing his undergrad degree.
"I am very happy to welcome Chris to our program," Orton said. "I was impressed with his proven ability to successfully handle various aspects in the programs he has been a part of up to this point in his career. He possesses the unique ability to teach, develop and connect with the players. I know he will be a great role model for our players, both on and off the court. We are thrilled that he, his wife Raja and their daughter Octavia have made their way to Oregon."
Prior to his second stint at CMU, he spent last two years as a junior college assistant coach in Florida. For the 2022-23 season, he worked as the assistant coach at Indian River State College in Fort Pierce, Florida, where he helped guide the program to a Region Southern Conference title. In 2021-22, Reeves served as an assistant coach at the State College of Florida in Bradenton.
"I am honored and excited to join Coach Orton's staff at Western Oregon," Reeves said. "I am excited about returning to the state of Oregon and help Coach Orton build something special here at Western. Go Wolves"Â
