WOLVES HEADING INTO 2025
The 22nd-ranked Western Oregon men's soccer team is coming off its best season in its short three-year history in 2024 since returning in 2022 - claiming the program's first GNAC title, qualifying for its first NCAA tournament and winning its first NCAA postseason game before being eliminated in the second round by No. 3 CSU Pueblo.
Wolves head coach
Michael Behonick enters his third season at the helm after being named the GNAC Coach of the Year in his first two seasons thanks to a 25-8-4 overall mark (17-4-3 in GNAC play). This includes guiding WOU to a 14-5-1 mark last season.
The Wolves return two all-region players from a year ago in junior midfielder
Yahir Ocampo Navarro (first team) and senior defender
Caleb Kiner (second team). Ocampo Navarro - also named All-GNAC First Team - led WOU in goals (8) and points (21) while finishing second in assists (5). Kiner - who was also a All-GNAC First Team selection while also being named GNAC Newcomer of the Year - started 19 of the Wolves' 20 matches last season and played 1,614 minutes.
WOU also returns 2024 GNAC Freshman of the Year
Marcus Vazquez (3 goals, 2 assists) - who was named All-GNAC Honorable Mention along with fellow returnees
Abraham Villalobos (6 goals) and
Harper Neubeck (started and played 19 games, playing 1,546 minutes).
Overall, WOU returns six of its top seven players that tallied at least 10 points last season - including
Michael Divano (6 goals, 1 assist),
Alex Grignon (4 goals, 3 assists) and
Evan Huber (3 goals, 4 assists).
The Wolves will be looking to replace GNAC Defensive Player of the Year
Andre Schlaefli at keeper as he played all 1,800 minutes at keeper in 2024.
