MONMOUTH, Ore. — Kylani Rookstool knocked down five 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 21 points to lift Western Oregon past Montana State Billings 66-55 on Thursday night at the Wolves Athletic Center to move its home win streak to five games.
The Wolves trailed by one after the first quarter before taking control with a 21-point second period, turning a one-point deficit into a 33-23 halftime lead. Western Oregon continued to build separation in the third quarter behind timely shooting from Rookstool and steady play on both ends.
Rookstool, a North Idaho transfer, went 5-for-11 from beyond the arc and added eight rebounds for WOU (9-4, 4-1 GNAC). Ciona Wells chipped in 12 points and eight assists, while Triniti Youngblood added eight points off the bench. Natalie Brown and Enid Vaifanua each scored eight points, with Brown also pulling down eight rebounds.
Western Oregon shot 38.6 percent from the field and held Montana State Billings to 28.6 percent shooting for the game. The Wolves also forced 11 turnovers and converted 12 points off those miscues.
Western Oregon plays next at 2 p.m. Saturday at home against Seattle Pacific.
