SPOKANE, Wash. --- Western Oregon junior
Brennen Murphy was named the Male Track Athlete of the Meet at the 2026 GNAC Indoor Track & Field Championships on Tuesday at The Podium after picking up a conference title and setting a school record in another race.
Murphy's first key moment in winning the honor was taking home the crown in the 200 with a time of 21.30 seconds – a day after setting the school record in the prelims with a time of 21.24.
The junior then re-set the school record in the 400 at 47.13 to take second place. It's the No. 15 time in DII this season and he's now more than second faster than the No. 2 spot on the WOU all-time list.
Landon Theisen used a PR in the 800 at 1:51.41 (eighth in WOU history) to make the podium and finish in second place.
Jack Burgett made the podium in the 60 by taking third at 6.79 seconds – a day after setting a school record of 6.75 in the prelims.
Owen Frazier also scored a point in the race, taking eighth (51.58).
Jacob Behrman used a PR in the shot put of 52-05.25 (15.98 meters) to take fourth place. The distance moved him up to No. 4 on the WOU all-time list.
Tate Herber scored five points for WOU in the 60 hurdles by taking fourth with a time of 8.46 – a day after setting the school record in the prelims. He also scored in the high jump, taking sixth with a height of 6-3.5.
AJ Dixson took fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 46-04.75 to earn four points for the Wolves while
Ping Koonantha took eighth (43-11.25) to earn WOU a point.
Easton Pomrankey scored a pair of points for the Wolves in the mile with a time of 4:17.86 to take seventh while
Matthew Resnik took seventh in the 3,000 with a time of 8:34.31 to earn two points for the Wolves.
As a team, the Wolves men took fourth place with 79 points. Western Washington won the team title with 191 points followed by Central Washington (102.5) and Simon Fraser (92.5).
As for the women, WOU as a team took fifth with 46 points. WWU won the team title with 163 points, edging out Central Washington (152).
Freshman
Maren Anderson took second in the women's mile with a PR of 4:56.87 - third on the WOU all-time list and the fastest indoor mile since the record of 4:48.95 was set by Suzanne Van De Grift in 2018.
The 4x400 team of
Taylor Brasfield,
Tori Houg,
Amelia Merritt and Aliyah Taba moved to No. 8 on the WOU all-time list thanks to taking fourth with a time of 3:55.53.
Jazmine Dotson score four points in the 60 with a time of 7.68, good for fifth.
Taba became the fourth woman in WOU history to break the nine-second mark in the 60 hurdles with a time of 8.98 – fourth on the WOU all-time list and good for sixth place on Tuesday.
In the pole vault,
Isabel Zamora-Mercado set a PR and moved to No. 3 on the WOU all-time list with a height of 10-11.75 – good for sixth while
Alecia Lemeza tied for seventh at 10-6 to earn a point for WOU.
