Vierck, Ness lead Wolves at Pacific Multi

FOREST GROVE, Ore. --- Western Oregon freshman Makenna Vierck took third in the heptathlon while WOU's Caleb Ness took fourth in the decathlon at the Pacific Invite on Monday and Tuesday at Pacific University.

Vierck finished with 4,181 points - good for third place as she was followed by Alexa McGowan (4,015) who took fifth and Olivia Boyd (3,830) who took sixth. Eastern Oregon's Lizzy Grandle won the event with 4,587 points.

On the men's side, Ness finished with 5,604 points to take fourth. Gabe Burchfield followed in ninth place with 4,849 points. Lane Community College's Lucas Hoff won the event with 6,671 points.

The Wolves are at the Mangrum Invite on Friday in San Marcos, California, while also competing at the Willamette Invitational on Saturday in Salem.
