HONOLULU --- The Western Oregon volleyball team defeated Western Colorado 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-23) and Hawaii Pacific 3-1 (25-22, 20-25, 25-20, 27-25) to open play at the Hawai'i Challenge on Thursday.
In the first match against the Mountaineers (4-1),
Payton Davis led WOU (4-2) with 11 kills while
Malena Mathis added nine kills and four blocs and
Samantha Darby had 26 assists, nine digs and four aces to lead the Wolves in each category.
In the second match against HPU (0-3), Davis finished with a match-high 19 kills while
Kate Markley had 12.
Kate Klobas had eight blocks while Darby finished with 40 assists and three aces and
Madi Noel led the team with 21 digs.
The Wolves continue action at the event 2 p.m. Friday against Emmanuel.
