BELLINGHAM, Wash.--The Western Oregon women finished second and the WOU men were third as the two-day Great Northwest Athletic Conference track and field championships wrapped up on Saturday at Civic Stadium in Bellingham, Wash.




Seattle Pacific (women) and Central Washington (men) defended their respective team titles in rolling to convincing victories. SPU outscored the Wolves 200-142.5, while CWU out-pointed second-place Western Washington 238-148. WOU was next with 124 points.




Western Oregon's Lloyd Massey and Jacque Postlewait won individual titles on Saturday to give the Wolves seven total gold medals during the event. Massey won the 400 hurdles in 53.77, just edging Seattle's Daniel Sullivan at the tape (53.89). Massey was also second in the 110 hurdles in 15.48.




Postlewait won the 100 hurdles in 15.33, giving her two GNAC championships. She also won the conference heptathlon title last week. On Friday, WOU had Anthony Marin (hammer), Sabrina Freed (hammer) and Alee Rowley (10,000 meters) climb to the top of the winner's podium. Zeb Udell on the decathlon last week.




The WOU women had a collection of second-place finishers today. Taryn Plypick was a runner-up in the high jump (5-6), same for Jessica Harper in the steeplechase (11:40.1). Sarah Barker was second in the 400 hurdles (1:05.12), and Rowley came back after her 10K victory to finish second the next day in the 5,000 meters in (18:47.36). Sarah Howell was also a runner-up in the 800 meters (2:14.53).




Western Oregon will host the Last Chance meet, this Friday at McArthur Field.
