Bryce Peila of the Western Oregon football team has been named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 25-31.
Bryce Peila, a 6-1 sophomore safety from Central Point, Ore. (Crater High School), returned an interception 22 yards for a touchdown to give the Wolves a 14-0 lead in the first quarter and also blocked a punt, broke up a pass and had two tackles to spark a defense that allowed just 155 yards. Peila now has five interceptions on the season, returning two for touchdowns in back-to-back weeks.
Western Oregon's season will continue this Saturday, Nov. 6, in Arcata, Calif., when it takes on Humboldt State at 1:00 p.m.
