MONMOUTH, Ore. --- A Western Oregon football program that saw itself nationally ranked in 2025 and just missed a Lone Star Conference title put together arguably its top recruiting class ever in terms of depth, size and speed in the 44 student-athletes who inked on National Signing Day on Wednesday.

The Wolves - coming off 8-3 campaign - stayed true to their West Coast roots with all 44 players coming from Oregon (26), Washington (15), California (2) and Hawaii (1).

"The combination of our success in recent years, the quality conference we're in and us being the only Division II school in the state, this is an exciting opportunity for players in our region to come and play at a very high level," WOU head coach Arne Ferguson said. "We've really increased the size and speed of our program in this class - something you have to continue to do to be successful in a quality conference like ours. We're very excited abut the size, speed and depth at all the positions."

By position, WOU focused on the trenches signing 10 defensive and eight offensive linemen. The Wolves also bolstered their defense with seven defensive backs and six linebackers. Offensively along with the eight offensive linemen, WOU signed four wide receivers, three quarterbacks, two running backs, two athletes (players whose position will be determined) and a tight end along with adding a kicker/punter.

"I have to give a lot of credit to our recruiting coordinator Josh Manning and Matt Overlin - along with the support of our athletic director Randi Lydum - for putting together what I think is our best class ever," Ferguson said. "Josh and Matt have seen what we need to be successful in this conference and at this level. Not just the size and speed, but also identifying guys with the right work ethic who come from programs where hard work is valued so we can develop them as soon as possible."
