MONMOUTH, Ore. – The Western Oregon football team returns to action this week as the Wolves close out the 2012 season when they host Humboldt State at McArthur Field on Saturday, Nov. 10, at 1:00 p.m. The Wolves can still earn a share of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference crown if WOU defeats Humboldt State and Central Washington falls to Dixie State.

WOU enters the season finale with a mark of 5-5 overall and 4-5 in league play after the Wolves fell on the road to Central Washington last week. In the contest, WOU found itself down by 19 heading into the fourth quarter and rallied to take the lead; however, fell on a late touchdown by the Wildcats as the Wolves lost for the second time in a row.

Lucas Gonsalves helped lead the comeback as he had an 89-yard punt return for a touchdown and earned GNAC Special Teams Player of the Week honors for his effort.

Ryan Bergman leads the WOU attack as the freshman quarterback has stepped in behind center after starting QB Cody VonAppen went down with an injury. In two games, Bergman has thrown two touchdowns and is averaging 143.5 yards per game through the air.

As a team, the Wolves rank fourth in the league in scoring offense at 24.7 points per game while racking up 358.5 yards of total offense per contest.

Defensively, the Wolves continue to rank among the league's best as WOU ranks second in the league, allowing only 344.5 yards per contest and 22.2 points per game. Senior Bryce Peila continues to lead the effort as he ranks eighth in the league with 6.6 tackles per contest.

Humboldt State enters the week with a mark of 7-3 overall and 6-3 in conference play after falling at Simon Fraser, 41-37, last week. The Lumberjacks can clinch at least a share of the conference crown with a victory on Saturday.

HSU comes into the week as one of the most potent offenses in the league, ranking second in the league at 31.9 points per game while averaging 403.4 yards of total offense. Nick Ricciardulli leads the Lumberjack attack as the running back is averaging 143.1 rushing yards per game to lead the GNAC.

Earlier this season, WOU jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter and cruised to a 42-14 win over Humboldt State in Arcata.

The contest marks the final home game for 19 WOU seniors who will be making their final appearance at McArthur Field in a Wolves uniform.

Tickets to the contest start at $10 and can be purchased online at www.wouwolves.com or by calling 503-838-8051.
