Three earn NCAA provisional marks at Stanford Invite

PALO ALTO, Calif.
- Dan Sprinkle, Ashley Potter and Janelle Everetts gave Western Oregon NCAA provisional qualifying standards in a mid-distance race, the steeple and a horizontal jump as each posted season-bests at the Stanford Invitational.

Sprinkle ran a time of 9:11.28 in the 3,000m steeplechase to grab his provisional qualifying standard. That time was the 10th fastest in Division II this year and moved him into fifth place on the Wolves' all-time top 10 list.

Ashley Potter jumped into 12th on the 2012 NCAA performance list in the triple jump with a provisional qualifying mark of 39-1.75 (11.93m). The distance moved her into the top spot in the GNAC this season.

Janelle Everetts grabbed her provisional standard in the 800m dash. She ran a time of 2:12.68 in the event to spring into third on the 2012 GNAC performance list.

Matson Hardie had a very strong day in the horizontal jumps as well. Hardie tied for third in the long jump at the meet with a leap of 22-9.75 (6.95m). That mark moved him into second place in the GNAC this year. Hardie also took over the top spot in the GNAC in the triple jump with a mark of 47-5.75 (14.47m).

Brett Campbell and Kody Rhodes each registered a time of 15.37 in the men's 110m hurdles to tie for the top spot in the GNAC this season.

Chris Olsen highlighted the Wolves' performances at the SFSU Distance Carnival be running a time of 1:54.02 in the men's 800m to take over the lead in the GNAC.

Next week the Western Oregon track & field team will open the gates of McArthur Field as they host the John Knight Twilight Classic on Friday, Apr. 13. The throwing events will start at 2:00 p.m. with the races beginning at 3:45 p.m.
