FINAL RESULTSGRESHAM, Ore. – Western Oregon University's Track & Field team competed at the annual Saints Open hosted by Mt. Hood Community College Saturday at Earl Klapstein Stadium.
As a team, the Wolves would bring home three individual titles with a trio of juniors
Zach Holloway,
Josh Hanna, and
Emmi Collier winning their respective events.
On the men's side, Holloway would bring home one of the Wolves two individual titles by winning the steeple chase with a time of 9:32.71 which was over 30 seconds faster than the runner up George Showmaker of Lewis & Clark College.
Along with Holloway's performance in the steeplechase, Hanna also captured an individual title in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:54.14 winning the event by 0.79 seconds.
In the field event, freshman
Kegan Allen won Flight #1 with a mark of 43.14 meters (141-6) to finish sixth overall while junior
Justin Larson posted a fourth place finish with a toss of 53.98 meters (177-1).
On the women's side, Collier captured the individual title in the shot put with a mark of 13.10 meters (42-11.75) which is the fifth farthest toss in program history. Collier also finished second in the hammer throw with a toss of 42.88 meters (140-8).
Senior
Nicole Anderson would also win Heat #2 in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:27.82 to finish fifth overall which was right behind Wolves teammate sophomore Amanda Dithazy who posted a time of 2:27.79 finishing fourth in Heat #1.
Finally in the 1,500 meter run, freshman
Debora De Leon posted a time of 5:05.95 in winning Heat #2 and finishing ninth overall.
Western Oregon will return to action on March 21 at the Rose City Preview co-hosted by the University of Portland and Portland State University all day in Portland, Oregon.
