TO VIEW THE COMPLETE REGIONAL RANKINGS, CLICK HEREINDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – In the third and final Division II regional rankings by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Western Oregon University's men's basketball team fell three spots to seventh in the West Region poll according to an announcement Wednesday.
The Wolves, who completed the regular season at 23-5 overall and 20-5 against West Region opponents, are ranked behind four PacWest members – Azusa Pacific University (Calif.), California Baptist University, BYU-Hawaii, and Dixie State (Utah) – and a pair of California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) members – Chico State (Calif.) and Cal Poly Pomona.
Western Oregon is one of two Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) schools in the Top 10 in this week's poll along with Seattle Pacific University (No. 10).
In this week's poll, Western Oregon fell behind Dixie State (Utah), Chico State (Calif.), and Cal Poly Pomona with no other changes happening from No. 8 through No. 10.
Western Oregon, who is ranked No. 24 in the latest National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Poll, captured the program's first-ever GNAC regular season title and will this week's GNAC Tournament as the No. 1 seed.
Following this week's GNAC, PacWest and CCAA tournaments, the NCAA Regional selection committee will pick the five teams that will join the three conference champions in next week's regional, which will begin Friday, March 13.
The NCAA will announce the eight qualifiers and the host for the regional Sunday with a web cast on
ncaa.com beginning at 7:30 p.m. Pacific time.
