BRYAN CLAY INVITATIONAL RESULTS | MT. SAC RELAY RESULTSAZUSA & WALNUT, Calif. – At the annual Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific University and the Mt. SAC Relays, Western Oregon University's track & field team posted four personal records that included a pair at Cougar Stadium as well as two more at Hilmer Lodge Stadium on the campus of Mt. San Antonio College.
At the Mt. SAC Relays, sophomore
Rachel Crawford and junior
Sam Naffziger both posted personal record times in the 1,500 meter run. Crawford was clocked at 4:34.93, which is the third fastest time in program history and moved her within 0.20 seconds of earning a provisional qualifying time for the D-II Outdoor Championships next month, while Naffziger posted a time of 3:51.76 that ranks eighth all-time in program history and earns a provisional qualifying time for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Thirteen miles down the road at the Bryan Clay Invitational, junior
Bailey Beeson and freshman
Kenny Klippel posted personal bests in the 800 meter run and shot put, respectively. Beeson was clocked at 2:14.07 in the 800 meter run, which ranks ninth all-time in program history and improves her provisional time for the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championships in May, while Klippel posted a throw of 14.01 meters (45-11.75) to better his collegiate career best by 0.06 meters.
Also competing at the Bryan Clay Invitational was freshman
Kaleb Dobson, who began the day for the Wolves by winning Section #4 of the 110 meter hurdles in a time of 15.37 seconds that was good enough for 13th place overall.
Three juniors –
Josh Hanna,
Badane Sultessa, and
Stephanie Stuckey – also competed for the Wolves at the Mt. SAC Relays with Hanna and Sultessa clocking times of 1:51.62 and 1:51.74, respectively, to finish 17th and 19th, respectively, in the 800 meter run. Meanwhile, Stuckey finished the 1,500 meter run in a time of 4:40.28.
Western Oregon will continue competition in Southern California tomorrow – Saturday, April 18 – at the Beach Track & Field Invitational hosted by Long Beach State on the campus of Cerritos College in Norwalk, California. Meanwhile, approximately 22 Wolves will also take part in the Lewis & Clark Open at the Eldon Fix Track in Portland, Oregon.
