FINAL RESULTS

EUGENE, Ore. – At the annual Titan Twilight hosted by Lane Community College, Western Oregon University's track & field teams captured four individual titles led by a 1-2-3 sweep in the men's 800 meter run as well as a provisional qualifying mark in the women's javelin for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships in May.

In the men's 110 meter hurdles, freshman Kaleb Dobson won his third title of the outdoor season winning the event in a time of 15.16 seconds to win the race by 0.11 seconds.

The highlight of the night came in the men's 800 meter run, as junior Badane Sultessa, junior Josh Hanna, and sophomore Josh Dempsey swept the podium finishing 1-2-3 in the event with times of 1:51.67, 1:52.29, and 1:52.79, respectively. For Dempsey, his time was a personal career best while Hanna set a season best with his time.

In the men's 1,500 meter run, freshman David Ribich would post a personal career best time of 3:53.19 to win the event by almost three seconds that included leading the race for the final two laps. Ribich would improve his automatic qualifying time for the upcoming Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championships, while also moving within 1.15 seconds of posting a provisional qualifying time for the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

On the women's side, freshman Sheila Limas De La Cruz became the second Wolf to earn a NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championship provisional qualifying mark in the javelin with a throw of 40.65 meters (133-4) en route to finishing third overall in the event. Limas De La Cruz's throw moved her up three spots in the current GNAC rankings, as the first-year Wolf now ranks eighth overall.

Senior Rebecca Laible would be the fourth member of the Wolves' team to capture an individual title, as she won the triple jump with a mark of 11.37 meters (37-3.75) to win by 11 inches to bring home her first victory of the outdoor season.

Other highlights for Western Oregon would come from sophomore Amanda Ditzhazy, as she set a personal record in the 1,500 meter run with a time of 4:51.16 en route to finishing sixth overall. Freshman Megan Rose would also set a personal record in the 400 meter dash with a time of 59.69 seconds to finish fifth overall, while five Wolves – junior Bailey Beeson, freshman Suzanne Van De Grift, sophomore Rachel Crawford, freshman Debora De Leon, and senior Nicole Anderson – competed in the 800 meter run finishing third, fourth, fifth, 10th, and 20th, respectively, as De Leon set a personal best with a time of 2:21.48.

The final highlight of the night for Western Oregon would happen in the men's discus, as freshman Kenny Klippel set a personal record with a throw of 42.99 meters (141-0) en route to finishing second overall to improve his current GNAC standing by over two feet.
