STORYLINES
•  The Western Oregon men's basketball team plays two more games before the holidays this week with an in-region road contest at Azusa Pacific on Friday night before returning home for a Monday night exhibition against Douglas College. Friday's game will be contested at Citrus College in Glendora, Calif., at 7:30 p.m. Monday's game at The 109 Arena (New P.E. Building) is scheduled for a 7 p.m. tip.
•  Friday's meeting will be the fifth meeting all-time with the Cougars. The last two meetings have come in the NCAA Division II West Regional with APU winning at home in the first round in 2015 while the Wolves returned the favor in the regional semifinals in 2016.
•  The meeting with the Royals will be the second and final mid-December exhibitions for the Wolves. Douglas College, a school out of New Westminster, B.C., plays in the Pacific West Athletic Association in Canada.

LAST TIME OUT
•  Western Oregon dropped their only league game last week, 79-71 at Montana State Billings. The Wolves bounced back with a convincing 114-58 exhibition win over Portland Bible College on Monday.
• The Wolves shot well (55 percent) against the Yellowjackets in the first half to take a 40-35 halftime lead. The offense cooled down to 37 percent as MSUB took control midway through the second half.

Ali Faruq-Bey has a team-high 19 points while
Yanick Kulich had 16 points and four rebounds.

Tanner Omlid was all over the court in Billings finishing with 15 points, six assists, five rebounds, five steals and three blocks.
•  On Monday, Western Oregon rolled to a big exhibition win thanks to five players netting double figures.
Malik Leaks had six 3-pointers to lead the team with 20 points. As a team, WOU had 11 triples including four coming from
Demetrius Trammell.

• Western Oregon is averaging 72.0 points per game on the season and has a scoring margin of -2.2 (altered by a 39-point loss to Oregon).

Jim Shaw is in his second season at Western Oregon. Shaw was the 2015-16 GNAC and NABC West Region Coach of the Year. His previous assistant coaching stops include Saint Mary's, Washington, Oklahoma, Portland, Montana State, Southern Utah, Oregon State, Chemeketa and Idaho State.
• New faces appear on Shaw's bench with the addition of
Gage Aker,
Zach Payne and
Jalen James to the coaching staff.
Josh Reber is the only assistant coach to carry over from the 2015-16 staff.
• Western Oregon was picked to finish sixth in the 2016-17 GNAC regular season title race by the league's coaches.

ABOUT AZUSA PACIFIC
• Azusa Pacific is 5-7 on the season and is 1-2 in PacWest play.
• The Cougars wiped away a seven-point deficit with 45 seconds left in regulation to force overtime and eventually defeat Dixie State, 104-103, to pick up its first league victory last Saturday in Azusa.
• APU saw a two-game losing streak snapped with the comeback win over the Trailblazers. The Cougars lost by double figures on the road to both Concordia-Irvine and California Baptist.
• The Cougars are averaging 75.0 points per game while allowing 76.8 per contest.
• APU is shooting 43.0 percent from the field and 31.7 percent from 3-point range as a team.

• Douglas College heads into Monday's exhibition not having played a conference or counter game since the end of November.
• The Royals are 3-3 in their league play up in Canada.
