David Ribich completed the season sweep by being named West Region Male Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year by the USTFCCCA on Tuesday.
Ribich, a senior from Enterprise, Oregon, broke the all-time NCAA Division II record in the 1,500 at the Bryan Clay Invitational, posting a time of 3:37.35. At the time, that mark sat 14th in the world. Additionally, he ran the third-fastest 800 time in NCAA Division II this year at 1:48.09.
Ribich was a two-time champion at the GNAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships with wins in both events. For his efforts, he was named the GNAC Track Athlete of the Meet.
Looking to defend his 2017 national title, Ribich will compete in the 1,500 at the NCAA DII National Championships this week in Charlotte, N.C. The opening round of the 1,500 will take place on Thursday, May 24 with finals set for Saturday.
