BILLINGS, Mont. – The Montana State Billings Yellowjackets earned a 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-23) win over the Western Oregon Wolves on Saturday to finish off the first week of Great Northwest Athletic Conference play at Alterowitz Gym.
Western Oregon (2-8, 0-2) had their sixth consecutive match decided in straight sets after splitting their four appearances at the DII West Region Showcase and dropping their conference-opener to Concordia earlier this week.
Freshman
Sarah Crowell led the Wolves with nine kills, adding on five digs and a block. Crowell has totaled 28 kills over her last three appearances.
Accuracy on the attack proved an issue for Western throughout the match, putting together a .060 hit percentage over the three sets with 23 attack errors.
The Yellowjackets (3-7, 2-0) combined for five total blocks to limit the WOU offense, getting three blocks each from Joelle Mahowald and Bayli Monck.

Makenzie York all had two blocks for Western Oregon.
Western's lone lead of the match came early in the second set, leading no later than 6-5.
Sophomore
Aubrey Stanton had 23 assists for WOU, along with two kills and three digs.
The Wolves host their first matches of the regular season next week when they take on Western Washington Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. and Simon Fraser Sept. 28 at 2 p.m. PDT. Both matches will be played at NPE Gym in Monmouth.
